The Harvest
Story
The Harvest
story began with its founder, Annie Wilson, who at a very young age developed a
love for the art of preparing fine foods. She read avidly and collected her
favourite exotic recipes, testing these initially on her large family of seven
brothers and sisters, and later on her husband and two daughters.
After
moving to the Southern Highlands in 1999 Annie finally realized the dream of
opening her own establishment. Harvest Ingredients began its life in Cavendish
Street, Mittagong, primarily supplying wholesale food ingredients to the food
service industry, but also making available to the public a range of
international grocery items, a variety of nuts and olives, as well as the mix
of herbs and spices necessary to create Asian, Mediterranean and Indian
flavours.
The idea
for the development of the Harvest Dinner Packs came to Annie from the many
clients who asked for help in choosing ingredients for family meals such as
curries, or for simple, quick ways to prepare exotic dinner parties. The
popularity of Annie’s creations grew through word-of-mouth recommendations by
her satisfied customers, and the business expanded rapidly.
In April
2004 Harvest transferred from Mittagong to Robertson, with Annie now mainly focused
on developing the Dinner Packs, testing her ideas on customers, friends and
family alike. As word spread of the ease and success that people experienced
using the Harvest Dinner Packs Annie was encouraged to put all her efforts into
creating and supplying a broader range.
By May 2004
Harvey Nichols were importing the Harvest Dinner Packs for sale in London, and
various gourmet food stores, both locally based and in Sydney, were placing
orders with Annie.
